An oven that won’t heat, burns everything on the bottom or shows a fault code can throw off every meal. Appliance Repair Toronto repairs electric ranges, wall ovens and cooktops in Toronto, North York, Scarborough and Etobicoke. We’ve been at it since 2004. Call 647-642-1414, open 7 AM to 11 PM daily. If you go ahead with the repair, the $70 service call is waived.

Electric Appliances Only
We repair electric ranges, wall ovens, smooth-top and induction cooktops. We don’t service gas appliances; for a gas range or dryer, contact a licensed gas technician.
If you smell gas, don’t turn on lights, appliances or switches, and don’t use your phone inside. Leave the home right away and call your gas utility from outside. Don’t go back in until they say it’s safe.
Common Oven and Stove Problems We Fix
Here’s what each symptom usually points to. Your technician tests the suspect parts with a meter before recommending a repair, so you only pay for parts that have actually failed.
Oven Won’t Heat
On electric ovens, a burnt-out bake element (you may see a blister or break in it), a failed broil element, a faulty temperature sensor or a control board relay are the usual causes. A tripped breaker on one side of a 240-volt circuit can leave the cooktop working but the oven cold.
Temperature Is Off
If food burns or stays raw at the set temperature, the oven sensor may be faulty, the door gasket may be leaking heat, or the control may need calibrating. An oven thermometer on the middle rack helps confirm the problem before we arrive.
Cooktop Element Not Working
On electric coil cooktops, a burnt element, loose terminal block or failed infinite switch is common. On smooth-top glass cooktops, we check radiant elements, limiters and switches.
Self-Clean Door Stuck Locked
Ovens lock during self-clean and stay locked until they cool. If the door stays locked long after, or won’t unlock at all, the door lock motor, lock switch or control board may be faulty. Self-clean’s very high heat is also a common moment for parts to fail.
Control Panel or Keypad Not Responding
Keys that don’t respond, a blank display or random beeping usually mean a failed keypad (touchpad), a control board fault or moisture under the panel.
Convection Fan Not Running
A noisy or silent convection fan, or uneven baking on convection settings, usually means a failed fan motor or convection element.
Oven Light or Clock Out
Bulbs and sockets are simple, but a clock that’s out along with other functions often points to the control board or a power issue.
Types We Service
We repair freestanding and slide-in ranges, wall ovens (single and double), built-in cooktops, smooth-top ceramic glass and induction cooktops, and range hoods. In condos you’ll often find a slide-in electric range or a combination of induction cooktop and wall oven. Built-in wall ovens are heavy and sit in a cabinet cut-out, so we come prepared to pull them out safely.
Oven and Range Error Codes by Brand
Most digital ovens and ranges show a code when something goes wrong. The tables below list the codes we see most often, with meanings taken from each manufacturer’s support pages or owner’s manuals. Codes can vary by model, so confirm yours in the manual. Before checking anything inside the appliance, unplug it or switch off its breaker. If a code points to a leak, overheating or a burning smell, stop using it and call us at 647-642-1414.

Kenmore Oven and Range Codes
Kenmore ranges follow their maker’s codes: 790 means Frigidaire-built and 362 or 363 means GE-built, so use those brands’ codes above.
† From an owner’s manual, a service manual or a parts supplier’s listing rather than the manufacturer’s support site; confirm in your manual. If a code keeps coming back after these checks, the part behind it usually needs replacing, so book a repair visit.
Repair or Replace Your Oven?
Elements, sensors, door lock assemblies, infinite switches and keypads are usually quick and affordable repairs. A cracked glass cooktop or a failed main control board is more expensive; on an older basic range, replacing it can be better value. Wall ovens and premium ranges are typically worth repairing because replacements are costly and must fit the cabinet cut-out.
Cost and Warranty
The diagnosis visit is $70, waived once you say yes to the repair. Oven and stove repairs are warranted for 3 to 6 months depending on the work done. Pay by cash, credit card, debit or Interac e-Transfer; holiday and weekend rates are the same as weekdays.
What to Expect When We Visit
- Call or book your oven repair online. Have the model number handy if you can.
- We confirm when the technician will arrive, often the same day.
- We test the elements, sensor, switches and controls, then quote the repair.
- After repairing, we heat the oven to check it reaches and holds temperature.
Oven and Range Brands We Repair
We service Samsung, LG, Bosch, Electrolux, Frigidaire, GE, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag, Miele, Inglis and Jenn-Air electric ranges and wall ovens, plus Kenmore ranges built by Frigidaire or GE.
Areas Served
Oven and stove repair is available across Toronto, North York, Scarborough and Etobicoke. If your condo building limits noisy work hours or needs a trades booking, tell us when you call and we’ll plan the visit around it.
A tip for the many condo kitchens with induction cooktops: if a zone flashes or won’t heat, test the pan with a fridge magnet. Induction only works with magnetic cookware, so a pan the magnet won’t stick to will never be detected, and no repair is needed.
Oven and Stove Repair FAQ
Why won’t my electric oven heat up?
The most common cause is a burnt-out bake element, followed by a faulty temperature sensor or control board relay. Also check the breaker, since a half-tripped double breaker can let the cooktop work while the oven stays cold. A visible break in the element confirms it.
Do you repair gas stoves?
No. We repair electric ranges, wall ovens and cooktops only, and we don’t service gas stoves or any gas appliance. For a gas range, please contact a licensed gas technician. If you smell gas, get everyone outside first, then call your gas utility from outside the home.
What should I do if my oven door is stuck locked after self-clean?
Wait until the oven cools completely, which can take an hour or more. If it’s still locked, turn off power at the breaker for a minute and try again. If it won’t release, the lock motor or switch probably needs replacing.
Is it worth repairing an old stove?
Often, yes. Elements, sensors and switches are inexpensive repairs on any range. If an older basic range needs a new control board or glass cooktop, the cost can approach a new unit, and we’ll tell you honestly before starting. Most are worth fixing.
Why does my oven show an F code?
An F code means the control detected a fault, often in the temperature sensor, the control board or the door lock. Try turning the power off for 30 seconds. If the code comes back, write it down and book a repair.
